Affiliation | ViaZym, Delft

Background
Bachelor degree in Chemistry at the University of Trieste, with a thesis titled “Enzymatic kinetic resolution of homoallylic alcohols”. Master’s degree in Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry at the University of Trieste, with a thesis titled “Synthesis and characterization of self-assembling nanovectors for advanced nanomedical applications”.

Hobbies/interest
Going to the theatre (but not for too serious stuff), assembling stuff (Lego. And furniture, that’s just Lego for grown-ups), learning calligraphy (I’m bad at it), playing with my Switch, taking long walks, knitting and crocheting, cross-stitching, and many more random things.

What is the most useless talent you have?
I can correctly repeat the ancient Greek alphabet backwards.

Where is the worst smelling place you have been?
A horse stable that hadn’t been cleaned in a long while. The reactant storage room at the university, filled with bottles dating probably to the 1920s, comes a close second though.

What ridiculous thing has someone tricked you into doing or believing?
In a long-running, elaborate scheme, while I was away for university my sister made me believe that our bedroom had completely been renovated, and that all my stuff had been moved all over the place. She even sent me pictures to prove it. Needless to say, when I went back home the room was exactly as I left it.

About which topics could you talk for hours?
My cats, movies and tv shows (mainly Sci-Fi), my cats, random tidbits of Italian culture and history, my cats, Star Wars (yes, I’m that kind of person), my cats, stuff that I find annoying. Oh, and my cats.
