LinkedIn Profile

Dr. habil. Pablo Domínguez de María (m) (5% FTE) holds BSc´s in Pharmacy and Chemistry, and a PhD in Biocatalysis (2002). He worked in industry during 6.5 years (2003-2009, two years at Evonik AG, in Germany, and 4.5 years at AkzoNobel BV in the Netherlands) being involved in different projects regarding sustainable chemistry, organocatalysis, neoteric solvents and white biotechnology. In 2009 he joined RWTH Aachen University (Technical Chemistry Department, ITMC) as Group Leader. In 2015 he successfully defended his Habilitation (Thesis: Bio-based catalysis for petroleum-free biorefineries and fine chemicals). Since 2014 he is the Founder, CSO and CEO of Sustainable Momentum, SL., a consultancy firm providing technical support and competitive intelligence reporting on Sustainable Chemistry. He has co-authored > 120 scientific publications and book chapters (h-index 39, > 5200 citations), and several patents and books. Dr. Domínguez de María is Co-Chair of Dissemination and Exploitation Board (DEB).

Company: Sustainable Momentum, S.L. (SusMom)
Sustainable Momentum, S.L. is a young consultancy firm established in 2014, upon the identification of an increasing worldwide demand for providing technical support for activities related to Sustainable (industrial) Chemistry, Competitive Intelligence Analysis, Intellectual Property, and the edition of technical documents (e.g. patent reports, books, etc.). On a regular basis and to different academic and industrial customers, Sustainable Momentum SL provides interdisciplinary expertise in areas like biotransformations, white biotechnology, industrial catalytic processes, lignocellulose and biomass biorefineries, ionic liquids and deep eutectic solvents, to cite some specific core competences. Emphasis is always put on the sustainability of the entire process, providing a holistic view, advisory, and a fresh vision to client´s projects.

Previous and Current Involvement in Research and Training Programs
During his work as Group leader at the RWTH Aachen University, Dr. habil. Domínguez de María led a group with 5 PhD students and several post-docs, and involved in two research networks such as the DFG Research Training Group “BioNoCo” (Biocatalysis in non-conventional media) as well as in the DFG Cluster of Excellence “TMFB” (Tailor-made fuels from biomass”. Within Sustainable Momentum, S.L., he was involved at the project H2020 CarbaZymes (www.carbazymes.com Grant Num.: 635595), where C-C bond forming biocatalysis is investigated. SUSMOM was partner and WP6 leader, coordinating and executing roles related to dissemination and IP. Likewise, the firm is involved in a research project related to biorefineries with the RWTH Aachen (together with the BioSC Bioeconomy Science Center, www.biosc.de). Last but not least, the firm has been actively investing in the developing of its own product portfolio (edited technical books covering the gap between industry and academia), as well as in some bilateral projects with academic and industrial groups (non-disclosed).
