Prof. Dr. Per Berglund is PhD supervisor of ESR5 and Chair of Recruitment Committee. He is Professor of Biochemistry and deputy head of the department of Industrial Biotechnology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden. Prof. Berglund’s research in the field of Biocatalysis uses tools and principles from Nature to provide bio-based environmentally smart production systems. His group combines enzymology, protein engineering, in silico molecular modelling and organic chemistry to tailor enzymes for industrial conditions and to develop multi-catalytic cascade reaction processes for sustainable synthesis of high-value chemical products. Prof. Berglund is teaching fundamental Biochemistry courses and the annual KTH Biocatalysis course on the Masters’ level.
