Hosting Company: BioPox
Founded in 2011 by a skilled team of specialised scientists, BioPox S.R.L. (Italian Private Limited Company) was born with the idea to bridge the gap between Research and Industry developing innovative solutions to integrate or partially substitute traditional chemical processes with bio-based ones. Joining together a long-term experience on enzyme characterisation with the ever-increasing demand of enzymes in several industrial applications, BioPox proposes to the market a range of enzymes-based products/processes to meet both consolidated and cutting-edge industrial needs. BioPox is also a profitable premier providing of “on-demand” recombinant proteins, from gene cloning to protein expression, purification and product characterisation. The research group at BioPox has expertise in industrial applications of fungi, mould, yeast and bacteria, and of their oxidative/ hydrolytic enzymatic systems. Recent research interests are: studies of structure-function relationships of laccases; rational and random mutagenesis of laccases for tailor-adapting enzymes to industrial processes; optimization of fermentation and downstream processes of soluble recombinant proteins, bioactivation of polymer surface for biosensoring and drug delivery, development of biotech systems for the tanning industry, designing of innovative products and processes in the food & beverage industries.
